Owl Butterfly

This beauty is called "Caligo memnon memnon", or the Owl Butterfly. I am sure you can see where it gets its name.

Although they are native to tropical rainforests, like Costa Rica, I was lucky to see this one in Scotland at a great little butterfly farm in Edinburgh.

Because they are native to tropical rainforests, like Costa Rica, I was lucky to get this photograph at all, as it was one of the few to survive the constant fogging up of my poor camera!

Love is like a butterfly
As soft and gentle as a sigh;
The muli-colored moods of love
Are like its satin wings.
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight.
Love is like a butterfly
A rare and gentle thing.

Hi Chillzero,

It makes me think of my last holidays in Normandy, We've visited a tropical butterfly house in Honfleur

http://en.ot-honfleur.fr/Naturospace,0,0,38.html

But there wasn't any...Caligo memnon memnon. Very beautiful butterfly. Thanks for showing it.

I love the poem.

I like this concept a lot, a blog with great photos and beautiful poems.
It seems to me we've got some tastes in common.

(Sorry, my vocabulary in English is very "limited", I'm afraid you'll soon get bored with my "beautiful", "great", "I like it a lot"...but don't know how to say it differently. Anyway, my words are sincere)

mll, believe me, your vocabulary in english is much better than mine in any other language.

I'm glad you are enjoying the blog. I wasn't really sure what to do with it, so I'm learning as I go.
